Just a few weeks after being launched for iOS devices, Prisma, the popular photo filter app is now available for Android.

Prisma took the Apple Store by storm for its ability to analyze photos and apply amazing filters, making boring pictures look like something painted by Da Vinci, Picasso, or Munk, among others. Even though we’re not sure how many times it was downloaded, the app received over 2,200 reviews, with a combined rating touching 5 out of 5 stars (which is pretty rare for a photo app).

Just like on iOS, the Android app has a similar set up to that of Instagram, where users can either snap a photo with their camera or use one from the gallery. From there, it’s just choosing the filter of choice, adjusting the intensity, and saving.

There are at least 40 different filters to choose from, some of which appear to be associated with brands like Breaking Bad and Palmolive.

As these filters aren’t the regular run-of-the-mill nonsense you find on Instagram, rendering times can be a bit longer, especially with larger images. I tried to render an image taken with my Nikon J5, and it took about 5 minutes to process.

I would definitely recommend downsizing photos before applying Prisma filters. Battery life also seems to take a pretty big hit if images take a while to render.

Download the app for free in the Play Store.
