Even with 2 billion active Android users on the planet, Apple still can boast about having some of the most loyal customers to date.
The iPhone 8 is expected to be launched some time closer to the end of this year, with a totally new body and some much needed upgrades to catch up with its competitors. However, according to a survey done by AlphaWise, iPhone loyalty is once again close to an all time high at 92% for the month of April 2017.
These are customers that are “somewhat or extremely likely” to upgrade to another iPhone within the next 12 months.
The results are as follows for April 2017.
Apple fell short just one percentage point from September 2015 back when the iPhone 6S was launched.
In all fairness, this isn’t a straight case as Android is simply an operating system that is used across various brands. Apple’s advantage lies in the fact that they can focus on a few models, allowing them to deliver a more seamless experience across their product lines. This means that their older models can still enjoy the latest updates unlike Android devices which suffer badly from fragmentation issues due to restrictions from carriers, and manufacturers.
I’ve owned Nexus phones, starting from the Nexus One all the way up to the Pixel XL, and getting the latest updates from Google has always been a good experience, but unfortunately many other brands can’t boast this kind of support.
Ask anyone OnePlus owner how that feels.
Even Google themselves provide shorter support time frames for their older devices when compared to Apple and iPhones.
Experts believe that some of Apple’s boost in loyalty may have come about as a result of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery issues, but with the Galaxy S8 being such a hit, the results may be a bit more positive for Samsung the next time users are surveyed. Don’t expect them to take first place just yet though.
