Sony has released two new trailers promoting their upcoming sci-fi film, Life.

Unfortunately, the trailer depicts a lot of clichés already covered by other films such as Alien and Prometheus, with a visual mix from Gravity.

The film features a star line up including Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare, Hiroyuki Sanada and Ryan Reynolds.

The crew on board the International Space Station extract extraterrestrial cells from a research capsule coming back from Mars. They then carry out experiments on the life form, discovering that each cell is a muscle and nerve combined into one, with a single brain controlling everything.

The researchers also discover that the mass multiplies at an incredible rate. Can you guess where we’re going from here?

While the movie itself does appear to be pretty straight line in its design, it still looks very interesting, and I’ll definitely be shelling out my dollars to go see it.

The second trailer is most noteworthy as you get to see the alien life form up close in its early stages.

Life hits cinemas on March 24th.
