Prisma turns your photos into artwork that actually looks great

Move over, Instagram, here’s an app that has real filters worth talking about.

Prisma for iOS is the first photo filter app that I think is actually worthy of a blog post as its array of filters turn any drab photo into a work of art.

The app uses “unique combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence” to transform images into the likes of masterpieces by Picasso, Munk, Levitan and more.

The interface resembles that of Instagram’s filter selector, and does a quick job of applying filters given the amount of processing required to deliver stunning but balanced photos. Even though I have not been able to try it out myself as I don’t posses any iOS devices, my friends have nothing good to say.

Based on the demos I’ve seen online as well, I can’t wait to try it out once it comes out for Android later this month.

My guess is once more people find out about Prisma, crappy Instagram filters may get put to the side of the road for a while.
