Square Enix finally shed some light on Final Fantasy XV’s multiplayer, Comrades, and its beta test running from August 3-8.

Final Fantasy XV Comrades will bring players customizable characters and new move-sets along with new clothing and items.

All characters will have access to weapons such as katanas, polearms, daggers, crossbows, shuriken and shields. The game’s Outposts will serve as the player’s hub for customization.

You can play with up to three friends to adventure through multiplayer quests. While you are able to create multiple characters through completing quests, Noctis, Gladio, Ignis and Prompto will be available upon full launch.

A new feature, Royal Sigils, will play a key part in multiplayer co-op as combat enhancers. Four will be available in the beta, but more will come in the full version.

It’s unclear if the play area will be from the original game world or something fashioned specifically for Comrades.

The ‘closed online test’ is only available to Final Fantasy XV Season Pass holders who also must have a PS Plus or Xbox Live subscription.

The beta will run from August 3-8 and offer only limited access to the expansion. Three quests will be available in the beta and players only have access to katanas, clubs, daggers and shuriken weapons.

The release date is still yet to be confirmed. For more details, check out the Comrades beta site.
