Apple may finally be growing tired of their Plain Jane iPhone design.

According to a recently approved patent, the company seems interested in developing a phone with a folding, flip-style body with a flexible edge-to-edge OLED display.

According to the patent diagrams, the device features two sections connected by hinges with a flexible display on the outer section of the unit, curving around the joins.

From the drawing, it’s hard to say which surface will emit light (inner, outer, or both).

Don’t expect a flip iPhone 8, but it may be a sign of things to come in the not so distant future. Hopefully they decide to work on a new design, rather than providing ten thousand different dongles to get your charger and wired headset to work together.

It’s about time Apple try something new especially after many other big brands have copied the iPhone shape in one way or the other. Let’s not even get started on the junk Chinese knockoffs.
