EgyptAir flight 804 has gone missing

Reports are now coming in that an EgyptAir Airbus A320-200 operating as MS804 has disappeared from radar.

The 3 hour and 44 minute flight from Paris, France to Cairo, Egypt departed Paris at 11:09PM local time and was expected to touch down in Cairo at 3:05AM local time. However almost 3 hours have passed with no sign of the arriving jet.

There were 59 passengers and 10 crew members on board. The passengers breakdown is as follows: 30 Egyptian, 15 French, 1 British, 1 Belgian, 2 Iraqi, 1 Kuwaiti, 1 Saudi, 1 Sudanese, 1 Chadian, 1 Portuguese, 1 Algerian and 1 Canadian on board. The remaining 3 were 2 babies and 1 child.

The flight was listed as being operated by Airbus A320-200, registered as SU-GCC (pictured above).

The airline published the following tweets, indicating that the flight’s last known status. Stay tuned to this post for more updates.

Update – 6:32AM AST – There have been no major updates yet. Airbus has also acknowledged in the situation. Both Airbus and EgyptAir are asking media personnel and others to disregard unconfirmed reports that the aircraft crashed off the coast of Greece as they have received no confirmation of this yet.

Greek officials are saying otherwise, ‘confirming’ the loss just off the coast of Karpathos (a Greek island).
