If you’re a creeper, then you may be in for some bad news as Instagram is quietly testing a new feature that will allow users see if someone screenshots a photo of their story.
A select few users noticed the change to their app, and tweeted out photos of the new feature. For starters, if someone screenshots a photo of your story, a little camera shutter icon will appear next to their name in the viewed list.
Another user was notified of the change, letting them know that those who take screenshots will be identified.
It does not appear as if users will get a pop-up notifying them about the screenshot, but rather they will just see the little shutter icon next to their name in the viewed list.
Instagram confirmed the discovery, saying the feature was being trialed on a limited scale to as a way of continually improving the service.
“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you.“
There’s no word yet as to if or when this feature will drop, but if it does, it may be game over if you’re trying to covertly gossip about someone’e story.
