HMD to relaunch indestructible Nokia 3310

If @evleaks is right again, Nokia will be relaunching production of one of its classic models, the 3310.

According to his sources, the Nokia 3310 will be announced along with two new models, the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) being held in Spain at the end of February.

HMD Global, which now has exclusive rights to the Nokia brand name, is will be relaunching this retro unit for just €59 (US $62).

So far it doesn’t appear that any significant changes will be made to device, as it’s better known for its extremely long battery life and ‘indestructible’ nature.

As for its other newer models, the Nokia 5 and 3 are expected to be more budget friendly devices, with the associated hardware downgrade when compared to the Nokia 6.

The Nokia 5 will feature a 5.2 inch, 720p display, Snapdragon 430 SoC, and 2GB of RAM for €199, while the Nokia 3 will launch with extremely basic hardware for €149.

Personally, it’s hard to see how these phones could compete in today’s Android world as some of the more popular apps can easily eat away at available RAM.

For now, there is no word as to whether the 3310 will be exclusive to the Chinese market, but we figure the 3 and 5 may only go on sale in China. We’ll hear more about this come February 26th when Nokia/HMD hits the MWC stage.
